Biography
Homer Coffman has over 30 years of experience in project management and information systems. He has a wide range of experience in areas that include higher education, the military, Consumer Price Goods (CPG) industry, eCommerce, and Telecommunications. Coffman’s areas of expertise include strategic planning, leadership, ERP implementations and upgrades, project management, data center management, and IT governance. He has led numerous strategic projects that leverage technology to transform business processes while maximizing technology investment.
Coffman holds a Master of Science degree in Organization Development from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. He holds a second master’s degree in Information Systems from Webster University in St. Louis, MO. He is a graduate of Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, KS as well as a graduate of Air University Command and Staff College at Maxwell AFB. Most recently, Coffman obtained additional doctoral coursework in Information Technology from Capella University. He holds a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice.
As Chief Information Officer at The University of Southern Mississippi, Coffman was responsible for instructional and research computing for students, staff and faculty at all Southern Miss campuses. This was done by overseeing development and operation of the hardware and software infrastructure necessary to support emerging academic and administrative computing needs, recommending technology-related budget priorities, working closely with the university's executive team to establish institutional technology priorities, managing technology personnel and departments, establishing and convening academic and administrative user groups, and interacting with appropriate statewide technology organizations.
A former college dean, naval commander, entrepreneur and company president, his experience includes holding the position as Dean of Technology at American Intercontinental University with responsibility for seven campuses' faculty and course delivery. As a Project Manager for Enterprise Level Software Solutions he implemented an 18-month multimillion-dollar project with Del Monte Foods in San Francisco. As Chief Technology Officer with Firstdoor.com in Atlanta, GA Coffman served as Director of Technology, directing and aligning strategic planning, applications development and maintenance and support services to meet corporate objectives. As President and CEO of CyberHawk, he was innovator, developer and founder of the Internet solutions company that was selected as one of the "Emerging 30" companies for two consecutive years.
